The new SB Acoustics 9.5" Satori WO24TX-4 and WO24TX-8 TExtreme woofers with an increased nominal power of 90 W are an important enhancement to the Satori range, now offering extensive options for speaker designers. SB Acoustics was one of the first manufacturers of speaker chassis to announce the use of TExtreme materials for diaphragms and cones. Although SB Acoustics was not the first manufacturer of diaphragms made from TPCD material, it was likely the brand that contributed the most to the recognition and acceptance of these materials in the market. The fact that SB Acoustics introduced TExtreme-based drivers in its high-end audio series Satori developed by Danesian Audio was a clear sign of the performance that Frank Nielson and Ulrik Schmidt were able to achieve.

Frequently Asked Questions about Satori WO24TX / TeXtreme

What are the specifications of the SB Acoustics Satori WO24TX-4?

The SB Acoustics Satori WO24TX-4 woofer has a nominal power of 90 watts. The impedance is 4 Ohm, which allows for ideal matching with many Amplifiers. With a sensitivity of 91 dB, this speaker can deliver loud and clear audio content even at low amplifier power. The voice coil diameter of 49.5 mm ensures efficient heat dissipation, which enhances overall power handling. The resonance frequency (Fs) is 26.3 Hz, allowing for extended bass reproduction. The DC resistance (Re) is 3.3 Ohm, while the voice coil inductance (Le) is 0.29 mH.

How do the 4 Ω and 8 Ω variants of the SB Acoustics Satori differ?

The main differences between the 4 Ohm and 8 Ohm variants of the SB Acoustics Satori WO24TX-4 and WO24TX-8 woofers lie in sensitivity, resonance frequency, and the force factor. The 4 Ohm version has a sensitivity of 91 dB and a resonance frequency of 26.3 Hz, while the 8 Ohm version has a sensitivity of 88 dB and a resonance frequency of 24.5 Hz. The force factor (BL) is 7.9 Tm for the 4 Ohm version and 10.45 Tm for the 8 Ohm variant. These differences lead to varying dynamic performance and matching with Amplifiers.

What advantages does the TExtreme® cone offer in the SB Acoustics Satori speaker?

The TExtreme® cone in the SB Acoustics Satori speaker ensures excellent piston operation, minimizing distortion at both high and low frequencies. The use of this material simultaneously increases stiffness and minimizes resonances, leading to accurate and dynamic sound reproduction. Comparable to advanced diaphragm materials, the TExtreme® cone offers optimized performance at high volumes without compromising structural integrity. Especially if you enjoy listening to music loudly, the full benefits and improved acoustic clarity of this cone material become evident.

How does the motor system affect the performance of the SB Acoustics WO24TX-4?

The large, optimized motor system of the SB Acoustics WO24TX-4, equipped with a undercut pole piece and double short-circuit rings, minimizes magnetic distortion and increases the linear movement of the diaphragm. The improvement in efficiency and dynamic performance is supported by the ability to produce controlled and powerful bass notes. It also contributes to stable mechanical movement, reducing deviation from the center position. The effect is a clean, precise, and low-loss audio output that remains remarkably clear even at high levels.

What are the dimensions of the SB Acoustics Satori woofer and what does that mean for installation?

The SB Acoustics Satori woofer has a nominal diameter of 9.5 inches and an overall depth of 131.4 mm for both variants. In the 8 Ohm variant, the outer diameter is 242 mm. These dimensions are crucial for compatibility with existing speaker enclosures. It is important that the mounting cutouts at the sealing and bolt hole protrusions are precisely cut to minimize acoustic coupling. Proper installation not only guarantees the best possible performance but also prevents vibrations that could affect audio quality.

How does the ventilated pole piece construction affect speaker performance?

The ventilated design at the pole piece of the SB Acoustics Satori woofer serves to reduce air compressions that typically occur at high displacements. This design allows for a uniform airflow within the speaker, improving heat dissipation and minimizing overheating of the voice coil. As a result, mechanical efficiency remains high even at high levels. Optimizing these parameters leads to better impulse fidelity and increased clarity in the bass range, especially during sustained loud music passages.

Why is the fiberglass voice coil former special in the SB Acoustics Satori?

The non-conductive fiberglass voice coil former in the SB Acoustics Satori woofer minimizes unwanted damping effects that could impair sound quality. Fiberglass offers high temperature resistance and reduces the possibility of inductive losses that can occur with conductive materials. These properties contribute to durability and stability, especially under intense use and high power demands. In environments where continuous stress is the norm, this construction ensures uncompromisingly high sound authenticity and protection.

What role does the diaphragm area play in the sound of the Satori woofers?

The diaphragm area plays a significant role in the efficiency of sound radiation of the SB Acoustics Satori woofer. With 255 cm², it offers a large radiation area that ensures strong and distortion-free reproduction of bass frequencies. At lower frequencies, a larger area allows for the movement of large volumes of air, making the bass reproduction sound more natural and pleasant to the human ear. This diaphragm area also contributes to the control of the frequency response, allowing the woofer to accurately represent complex musical content.

What acoustic advantages does the soft rubber surround offer in the SB Acoustics Satori woofer?

The soft rubber surround with low damping in the SB Acoustics Satori woofer ensures optimal settling behavior. It allows for linear movement of the diaphragm, which increases the precision of sound reproduction. The damping properties minimize transmission losses while simultaneously reducing mechanical stress. This construction provides improved mobility and flexibility, allowing the diaphragm to clearly reproduce the finest details of audio sources. Especially in dynamic musical pieces, the combination of precision and efficiency is clearly audible, allowing high sounds and deep bass to be reproduced cleanly.

Why is the linear symmetrical suspension important in the SB Acoustics Satori woofer?

The linear symmetrical suspension of the SB Acoustics Satori woofer significantly improves dynamic performance. This suspension ensures that the diaphragm movement remains stable and controlled across the entire operating range, minimizing distortion at high volumes. This construction offers a balanced ratio of stiffness and flexibility, achieving uniform responses to different frequencies. Thus, the suspension ensures the homogeneity of audio output. Especially in combination with demanding audio systems, the benefits are noticeable through precise and authentic sound reproduction.
